Rise is Our Lady of Grace’s youth group for middle school teens (grades 6-8), and Ignite is our youth group for high school teens (grades 9-12). Rise seeks to teach and inspire young people to rise up and walk in the light of faith, while Ignite seeks to ignite an indistinguishable fire of faith in their hearts – so that young people of all ages may confidently and joyfully live as disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, under the protection and guidance of our Blessed Mother, in a world that often leaves us longing for more. We want Rise and Ignite to allow pre-teens and teens to grow in healthy community with their neighbor, while they also grow in their personal relationship with Christ.
Both Rise and Ignite meet every Sunday. Meetings include faith discussion, games, free snacks, and time to hang out with other Catholic teens. Other events throughout the year include: Holy Hours, Mass & breakfast, movie nights, bonfires, holiday parties, Mario Kart tournaments, picnics, trips, retreats, service opportunities, and so much more. Members of Ignite are also invited to attend the Steubenville Catholic Youth Conference in Steubenville, Ohio each summer.
Join us for our next meeting! Any and all teens are welcome, whether you are a parishioner of OLG or not. Time and location details can be found in our current meeting flyer below.
Please contact our Pastoral Associate, Maddie Appleby, with questions, to be added to our email list, or for more information at mappleby@olg1.org or (215)-757-7700.
With MLK National Day of Service coming up, we are going to combine our youth group meeting next week with MLK! :) I thought making our next meeting on MLK Day would be fun, a little different, and a great opportunity to serve those in need on your day off from school. So, rather than our normal weekend meeting, we will be meeting on MONDAY, January 18 outside the church to collect donations of winter clothing and hygiene items! We have a no-contact donation system in place, where people will simply drive up to where we're standing in the parking lot, unlock their trunk for us, and then we'll grab their bags of donations. When we're finished, the Knights of Columbus will arrive and we'll put all the donations in their cars, which they will then take to Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.
So: we are meeting on Monday, January 18 outside the church from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. You can come for all 3 hours or for part of the time - whatever works best with your schedule. Again, we will be outside, so bundle up and don't forget your mask! We will have plenty of hand sanitizer and snacks. :)
*** We have been combining both youth groups this year so as to have ample time for thorough cleaning and disinfecting before and after our meeting. As always, a reminder that masks are required and we will maintain social distancing throughout. If you are feeling sick, exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms, or have recently been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, please stay home until you get the all-clear. Thank you! Hope to see you at our next meeting! :)
LOCATION
For the safety of the Our Lady of Grace School students and faculty as well as all who would typically use the meeting spaces located inside of OLG School, our usual meeting room inside the School is currently unavailable for meetings. Therefore, Rise and Ignite will either meet outside on the IHM Center Lawn (338 Hulmeville Avenue, Penndel, PA 19047) OR in the Lourdes Room (located in the main vestibule of Our Lady of Grace Church), TBD weekly based on the weather and other surrounding circumstances. Please take note each week via the information under the "Coming Up Next" section as to where we are meeting!
COVID-19 PROCEDURES
In order to attend any Rise or Ignite meetings and events, you must wear a mask over your nose & mouth at all times (unless you are actively eating or drinking) and you must social distance (6 feet). We will provide hand sanitizer, but you are encouraged to bring your own as well. We thoroughly clean any and all surfaces touched throughout our time together and when meetings conclude. We also disinfect all tables, chairs, and other high-touch surfaces prior to our meetings. If you, a member of your household, or someone you've come in contact with recently is not feeling well, is exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms, or has tested positive for COVID-19, please stay home until you get the all-clear. Thank you!
SNACKS & DRINKS
We will continue to provide snacks and drinks at our meetings. All food and beverage items will be individually wrapped/bottled to curb the spread of germs. If you are kind enough to bring snacks with you for the group, please make sure that they are pre-packaged/individually wrapped as well. Thank you!
PRIZE DRAWINGS
Get ready to post about Rise & Ignite and invite your friends! Our prize drawings will continue as normal (though we will lay out all the potential prizes so that winners don't touch more than the item they choose). For more information or a refresher about how to be in the running for a prize at each meeting, see below!
As we all know, the Coronavirus situation is an ever-changing one, so please be on the lookout for adjustments and changes to these procedures as time goes on based on recommendations from the CDC. Thank you for your cooperation and patience!
Help spread the word about our events, and have fun while doing so! Whenever you come to a Rise or Ignite meeting and mention us (@riseigniteolg) on your own Instagram or other social media account(s), you will be automatically entered into a drawing to win a prize of your choosing! There will be one winner per group each time we meet.
Can’t wait to see you at a meeting soon! Bring a friend and get ready for your chance to win!
