You are invited to our monthly event series: Cocktails with the Canonized(21+)! This month's event will take place on Monday, November 25 at 7:00 PM in the St. John Neumann Room, OLG School. Please RSVP to Eric Harper by Tuesday, November 12 if you are interested in attending: [email protected]
The Catholic Church has made significant contributions to the spirits. Beer brewing was perfected in medieval monasteries. It is likely that whiskey was invented by monks, too, in Ireland.
G.K. Chesterton famously said that he converted to Catholicism because it was the only religion that could reconcile the Cross and the pint. The world is sacramental and the beauty of creation is infinite; everything has the potential to point to the goodness of God.
Let's put something special in our glasses and toast the canonized. Each month we'll make a cocktail inspired by the life of a Saint and celebrate his or her life. November: St. Gertrude the Great, "B&B Plus" Cocktail - Benedictine, Brandy, Lemon Juice; and Venerable Henriette Delille, "Creole Lady" Cocktail - Bourbon, Madeira Wine, Grenadine, Green Cherry, Red Cherry.
