Monsignor Prior will be giving an Advent Lecture on Tuesday, December 5 at 7:00 PM in the church, titled "The Perfect Sacrifice of Praise." All are welcome to join us as we seek to grow in faith, hope, knowledge, and love this Advent season! (This talk will also be live-streamed for those who would like to attend but cannot make it in person.)
Every Sunday, sometimes daily, we gather to celebrate the prayer which is the “source and summit” of our lives – the Mass. The celebration of the Eucharist is the “Perfect Sacrifice of Praise.” In the celebration, in a mysterious or “sacramental” way, the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross, by which we know and experience the truly awesome love of God, is made visible and present. Monsignor Prior will speak on the sacrificial aspects of the celebration. After considering the very human act of giving, which develops into offers of praise, thanksgiving and penance in the life of Israel, the lecture will focus on Jesus’ self-offering and the memorial of the Mass. The goal of the lecture is to help us to deepen the encounter with our living and loving God who is the goal of our pilgrimage of faith.
