Thanks to the incredible generosity of several parishioners, the Marian Grotto outside the IHM Center has been beautifully renovated, just in time for us to enjoy it during "Mary's Month" of May! With a fresh paint job on both the grotto itself and the statues of Mary and St. Bernadette, new plants and more, the grotto is a beautiful and peaceful place to relax and pray. It's especially stunning when lit up at night! All are invited to stop by the grotto at any time to see the renovations and pray. Thank you once again to all who had a hand in the renovations! Your hard work will benefit the parish and greater community for years to come.
Did you know? The Marian Grotto at the IHM Center depicts the apparitions of Our Lady to the young St. Bernadette Soubirous in 1858 in Lourdes, France. It was during these apparitions that Mary identified herself with the words, "I am the Immaculate Conception," and revealed a miraculous spring of water that still flows today. Ever since then, thousands of people make pilgrimages to the holy and healing baths of Lourdes each year to receive healing from physical, mental, and emotional ailments. Church authorities have officially recognized over 60 miraculous cures from Lourdes, although there have probably been many more. Whether they go there seeking healing or not, pilgrims to Lourdes often return home with renewed faith and a readiness to serve God in those in need.
